Homeschool Enrichment

Ages 6.5 to 11yo

From the beginning, Roots has adopted a “yes, and…” approach to learning. One way Roots is working to step fully into this philosophy is by offering learning opportunities to members of our community beyond those families participating in our full time Elementary Program. While we consider our Elementary program to be a highly flexible learning model, we also recognize that full time school isn’t the right fit for all families.

For the 2024 / 25 school year, we will be entering our second year of our small Homeschool Enrichment program. Our program will run from September through June, and enrollment is for the full year. Our goal is for Children participating in this programming to be fully integrated members of our learning community, benefiting both from our intentionally designed indoor and outdoor spaces, experienced guides, place based curriculum, and the opportunity to develop and nurture peer relationships over the course of the year.

Our Daily Rhythm is designed as a container for learning, offering flexibility to continue exploring a subject if students are feeling inspired or to take a pause and recalibrate our minds and bodies if need be.

In addition to dedicated time outdoors, any and all parts of the daily rhythm may take place in nature. As a program rooted in Place, it is essential to give our students ample opportunity to spend time in the natural environment and community outside of the four walls of our classroom.

All Full time and Enrichment programs maintain a child to teacher ratio of 7:1.

CUrriculum:

Roots Place Based Programming is interdisciplinary in nature, meaning rather than teaching individual subject matter, concepts are taught and experiences are designed by pulling from a variety of modalities such as Literature, History, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, and so on. We believe that Human Beings do not exist in a vacuum, and that it is important to understand ourselves, and the world around us, within the context of the greater whole.
