With just 12 children and two teachers, every child is known well. This allows our educators to respond thoughtfully to each child’s developmental readiness, socially, emotionally, and academically. Children are supported without being rushed or labeled, and learning is shaped around who they are rather than who they are expected to be.
We prioritize executive function, emotional regulation, and self awareness because these skills underpin long term academic success. Early literacy and numeracy are introduced intentionally and in alignment with best practices, without pressure or premature expectations. Children build confidence as learners while developing the skills they need to engage deeply with academic work over time.
Kindergarten at Roots is carefully designed. Learning is grounded in play, exploration, and meaningful experiences, while also offering clear structure and consistency. Children engage in early literacy work aligned with the science of reading, foundational math experiences, collaborative problem solving, and extended time outdoors that supports focus, resilience, and peer connection.
Roots Kindergarten is not about delaying learning. It is about building it well. Children leave with a strong sense of themselves as learners, an understanding of how they learn best, and the ability to ask for what they need. This confidence and self awareness supports smoother transitions into first grade and beyond.

Kindergarten at Roots is designed with intention. Each part of the day supports children’s emotional regulation, executive function, curiosity, and emerging academic skills in ways that are developmentally appropriate and deeply responsive to who they are as learners.

A Holistic Approach to Learning: Our curriculum supports the whole child, including cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Through a combination of child-led exploration and intentionally chosen activities, children are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and engage deeply with their learning.
Experienced, Attentive Educators: Our Kindergarten educators are highly qualified and deeply committed to early childhood education. They create a warm, inclusive environment where children feel known, supported, and confident expressing themselves. Small class sizes allow educators to respond thoughtfully to each child’s needs and strengths.
Play-Based Learning With Purpose: Play is a powerful driver of learning. Through play-based experiences, children build executive function, problem-solving skills, and intrinsic motivation. These experiences support creativity, imagination, and hands-on exploration while laying the groundwork for academic engagement.
Small Class Sizes for Individualized Support: With a maximum of 12 students and two full-time Kindergarten educators, each child receives meaningful attention and guidance. Instruction is tailored to individual learning styles, interests, and developmental readiness, allowing children to grow with confidence and care.
