Aftercare for Kids aged 5 to 11 years
Our 2026 / 2027 school year, Roots is offering afterschool care for our school families and children from the surrounding community. Our goal, particularly in after school programming, is to balance the inherent need of children to explore, experiment, and find connection with both peers and place and the need for physical and emotional regulation after a full day spent learning.
Place Based Enrichment
Place based after school programming at Roots aims to develop a sense of wonder and respect for the world around us and appreciation of our role in it by helping children make meaningful connections to their community through movement, play, art, and real world hands-on exploration.
Afterschool Programs
Mon - Thurs Aftercare
Engaging, Interactive + Immersive
The Monday through Thursday place-based learning track providers families with consistent care from week to week while immersing young learners in hands-on experiences that connect their studies to the world around them. Through exploration and play, students develop a deeper understanding of concepts while fostering a love for learning.
Afternoon Adventure Club
Exploratory, Interdisciplinary + Experiential
Afternoon Adventure Club offers students the chance to head off campus after school for local adventures to trails, beaches, and community spaces. It’s a simple, joyful way to extend the day with movement, exploration, and time together outdoors.
Each outing is offered à la carte and is open to all families in our community. No full-time aftercare enrollment required.
Our Aftercare Daily Rhythm
Drop Off | 3pm to 3:30pm (Children coming from Pond Cove or CEMS may be dropped off directly by the bus)
Afternoon Greeting / Mindful Moment | An opportunity to greet friends, share, participate in song, and discuss the schedule for our time together.
Snack | May occur outdoors under the trees or by the garden weather permitting.
Reading | Exploration + Play | Tinkering | Art (rotating opportunities)
Pick Up | 5pm
Aftercare Registration Details
Monday through Thursday Extended Day
Priority registration will be offered to current Roots students and Families seeking full time aftercare.
Deposit is due at time of registration. The fee is 100 percent nonrefundable. All Roots programming cancellations will be made at the discretion of Roots Administration and staff; this includes cancellations for any reason including weather or a COVID-related closure. Cancellations of Programming are normally done in line with local school districts. No refunds, credits or make-up days will be offered. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact us.
NOTE: Tuition for this program is calculated on an annual basis and spread evenly across payments to create a consistent $ amount. The weeks that have closures, holidays or cancellations will not affect the monthly tuition. 5 week months, 3 week months, closures, vacations and illnesses are all figured into the annual tuition amount before we divide by the number of months within a particular program.
