Roots was started by Jaclyn Gallo in the Spring of 2020 in response to Pandemic learning. In the first year as a small microschool Roots served a tight knit group of 6 children, ages 5 through 7. With each successive year, we’ve welcomed new families to our school. From the beginning, Roots philosophy and focus has been deeply connected to three principle values: Care for Self, Care for Others, and Care for the Environment. Guided by these principles, Roots students' learning takes place in a variety of settings, including small group, mixed age classrooms and outdoors via nature walks and immersive half and full day experiences. As we look ahead to year 4, Roots is transitioning to a larger space and a staged expansion, ultimately to include students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
