After Care

Our 2024 / 2025 school year, Roots is offering afterschool care for our school families and children from the surrounding community. Our goal, particularly in after school programming, is to balance the inherent need of children to explore, experiment, and find connection with both peers and place and the need for physical and emotional regulation after a full day spent learning.
Place Based Enrichment | The Land, The Sea, and Me
Join Roots Faculty Member, Marine Scientist, and avid Explorer, Sophia Spring after-school on Tuesday and Wednesday each week for an immersive, hands on enrichment program focusing on the intersection of our farms (both marine and terrestrial), food, and marine science.
Place based programming at Roots aims to develop a sense of wonder and respect for the world around us and appreciation of our role in it by helping children make meaningful connections to their community through movement, play, art, and real world hands-on exploration.
This program will include occasional off site field trips to places such as oyster farms, produce farms, local beaches and tidal areas, and community service projects. Field Trip Schedule to be determined as dates are confirmed.
Our Daily Rhythm
Drop Off | 3pm to 3:30pm (Children coming from Pond Cove or CEMS may be dropped off directly by the bus)
Afternoon Greeting / Mindful Moment | An opportunity to greet friends, share, participate in song, and discuss the schedule for our time together.
Snack | May occur outdoors under the trees or by the garden weather permitting.

5 - 6 yo Program - Engaging, Interactive + Immersive
The 5 to 6 Year old place-based learning track immerses young learners in hands-on experiences that connect their studies to the world around them. Through exploration and play, students develop a deeper understanding of concepts while fostering a love for learning.

Monday through Thursday Extended Day (5 to 6 year old Program)
Non Refundable Deposit: $250
Monthly Payment: $275 (billed on the 15th of each month, beginning August 15th, 2024)
7 to 11 yo Program - Exploratory, Interdisciplinary + Experiential
The upper elementary place-based learning program provides students with opportunities to investigate real-world issues and apply their learning in meaningful ways. By engaging in interdisciplinary projects, students develop a deeper understanding of their local community and global environment.

Monthly: $200 (Due on the 15th of each month, beginning August 15th, 2024)
Deposit is due at time of registration. The fee is 100 percent nonrefundable. All Roots programming cancellations will be made at the discretion of Roots Administration and staff; this includes cancellations for any reason including weather or a COVID-related closure. Cancellations of Programming are normally done in line with local school districts. No refunds, credits or make-up days will be offered. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact us.
