At Roots Academy, we believe that every child deserves a nurturing and enriching environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive. Our Jr/Sr Kindergarten Program is rooted in PLAY and designed to provide the perfect balance of developmentally appropriate structured learning and creative exploration for children ages 4.5 to 6, laying a strong foundation for not only their educational journey, but their life.

What does Jr/Sr Kindergarten at Roots Academy look like?

  • Holistic Development: Our curriculum focuses on the holistic development of each child, encompassing cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. Through a combination of child led exploration and intentionally chosen activities and experiences, we encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experienced Educators: Our dedicated team of educators are not only highly qualified but also deeply passionate about early childhood education. They create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued and empowered to express themselves.

  • Play-Based Learning: We believe that play is a powerful tool for learning. Our program integrates play-based activities that foster creativity, imagination, and hands-on exploration, helping children develop essential skills in a fun and engaging way.

  • Small Class Sizes: With a maximum of 12 students, we ensure that our two full time Kindergarten Educators are able to provide individualized attention for each child. Educators tailor instruction according to each child’s unique needs, interests, and learning styles.

  • Rich Learning Environment: Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to stimulate curiosity and inspire learning. From cozy reading corners to interactive learning centers, every space is carefully curated to spark imagination and encourage discovery.

  • Focus on Social Skills: We not only understand the importance of social-emotional development during the early years, but prioritize it. At Roots, cooperation, empathy, and developing communication skills are woven into all areas of our curriculum.

  • Preparation for Elementary School: Our Jr/Sr Kindergarten Program equips children with the foundational knowledge and skills they need to succeed in elementary school and beyond. Whether it's early literacy and numeracy skills or problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, we ensure that every child is well-prepared for the next stage of their academic journey.

Preschool Programs

 
 

We will be expanding our Elementary Program to include a Monday through Friday Junior Kindergarten option for the 2024/25 school year.

This program will be best suited for children 4.25yo to 5.5yo who would benefit from more than a traditional preschool environment provides, but still firmly rooted in play and exploration.
