Shop Small- Shop Women Owned!

It’s like summer ended, we blinked, and the hustle and bustle of the holidays is already here, haha! So we thought we’d help kick off your shopping list with a VERY special curated list of women owned small businesses!

Shopping small was at the top of our list, but we wanted to hone in even more to celebrate and support these brilliant, caring + loving women. As we started our research, a common theme started to arise among these businesses- many of these women are mothers, friends, educators + creators all with the common goal to create a little bit of magic for all kiddos alike! These companies support amazing causes like sustainability, creating job opportunities around the world at fair wages, inspiring bravery and accepting people's differences. We are certain this holiday will be a gift WIN, if you purchase something from any of these 8 businesses. Each link will direct you to their story- because if this blog does not fully convince you to shop these businesses, getting to know these women and their “why” certainly will!

Happy shopping + the happiest of Holidays from us to you!

1. The Sensory Mess

This small business is near and dear to our hearts. If you have a little that LOVES a good mess- we can’t recommend sensory mess kits, from The Sensory Mess enough! There are several holiday themed sets to choose from- and we really do believe Rachel sprinkles a little magic in each kit!

2. Roots Studio

If you are looking to gift an experience- Jackie at Roots Studio has partnered with our friend The Sensory Mess and will be offering Messy Play Dates in the months to come! Getting messy at home is loads of fun- but sharing the magic of a mess during the holidays makes it even better. A space full of YES! And no clean up for you :)

3. Hello Sugar House

Calling all builders! If your little(s) loves blocks, without any hesitation, hop over to check out Hello Sugar House. Created by two mom besties- these beautiful wooden blocks bridge generational gaps and are timelessly designed to always be the “go-to” toy. Sugar Blocks really stand out above the rest!

4. Bella Luna Toys

If you are hoping for an easy holiday shopping experience, Bella Luna Toys might be the perfect one stop shop for all the littles in your life. Sarah has beautifully curated her shop, showcasing an incredible variety for all ages. Crafts, classic + timeless Waldorf wooden toys and games are just a few of the categories to browse. This shop really does spark the magic of imaginative play!

5. Hazel Village

Imagine… a whimsical little village, where magical friends are waiting to be given to a special little buddy! Jane, founder of Hazel Village, has created just that. These are beautifully crafted stuffed animals + inclusive dolls- that will make your little(s) holidays beyond special. What we LOVE about this company is that they partner with makers all over the world to empower artisans to lovingly craft their product. As you browse their website- be sure to check out the map of Hazel Village to really bring the magic to life!

6. Pals Socks

We are literally jumping with joy over this company! This is one of the coolest small businesses with such a cool mission. Each pair of socks comes as a mismatched set of friends- which as the creator of Pals, Hannah, perfectly explains: “I wanted to spread a powerful and much needed message to our future adults, decision makers and global citizens (kids!) that we don’t have to match to be besties.” We are SO into this and are here for this friendship! Who knew socks could/would be a way to spread such a profound message about celebrating + embracing differences?!

7. Year Cheer

There is something very special about the anticipation of a subscription box… it’s something that is in the back of your mind every month, but once it arrives it is a pleasant yet kind-of-unexpected surprise! Year Cheer is such a neat subscription gift for any little or family. Each box includes decorations, crafts, family activities + games and a few surprises in celebration of holidays throughout the year. Creator Katie expressed the understanding/importance of wanting to create fun memories for little(s)- and how easy it is to get lost in the rabbit-hole of Pinterest perfect holidays. A subscription to Year Cheer will alleviate that pressure!

8. Bravery Mag

Last but certainly not least, Bravery Mag is an absolute gem. A beautiful resource for littles that highlights a female role model that exemplifies bravery. Each issue offers a stunning biography, illustrations, activities and a wealth of inspiration. All issues are sold individually-  we think it’s worth investing in the complete collection!
